• Specialty Connectors

Oil States can provide a range of connections for bespoke applications. From offshore water uptake risers to onshore cement caissons, we can offer an alternative when a welded solution is either too costly or impossible due to production or time constraints. We have supplied sizes ranging from 8.625″ for risers to 72″ for an FPSO turret and have existing designs  to cover most sizes. With diverse application and specialist materials experience, Oil States is best placed to offer a solution that meets project budget and time requirements.

  • MMR™ Connector

The mudline makeup and release (MMR™ connector) is a fast-makeup connector that has been used in operations around the world. The MMR™ connector is designed to incorporate large load-bearing faces so that it is suitable for piling operations. The connector can be easily disconnected subsea with no requirement for umbilical lines back to surface. The interfaces on the MMR connector box allow you to tie back onto the connector at a later date with a stab-in pin which requires no tools for assembly and is secured with an external lock ring.

  • Swift™ Connector

The Oil States Swift™ connector is a heavy-duty, threaded connection that has been in operation worldwide for over 30 years. Offering a gas-tight, metal-to-metal seal specifically for intermediate casing, the 20” and 22” versions have been tested to ISO 13679:2002 cal 1. The Swift connector has been designed to offer a cost-effective solution that can be run by casing crews with an optional anti-rotation design.

  • Puma™ Connector

Oil States’ Puma™ connector, designed to meet the flush O.D./I.D. needs of operators, offers a threaded, weld-on connector solution for applications where diameter restrictions preclude the use of conventional upset connections. The Puma connector is drivable and reuseable. It exceeds the pipe body yield capacities while using standard pipe grades. Installation and makeup utilize standard casing running equipment without the need for specialist threaded running tools.

  • Leopard™ Connector

Oil States’ Leopard™ connector has been supplied and installed since the 1990s. It is currently in service worldwide on platforms, jack-ups, semi-submersibles and drillships. To date, we have supplied 18,000+ Leopard connectors from sizes 18.625″ – 36″.

The twin-start thread form ensures rapid makeup and negates galling with anti-rotation features that are integral to the connection and don’t require any external keys.

The Leopard is available in a number of variants dependent on the application including jetted, drilled and cemented. It is available in drivable, internally or externally flush options.

  • Lynx™ Connector

Oil States’ Lynx connection, in operation since the 1990’s, is a weight-set, non-rotational connection that has been field proven worldwide on platform, semi-submersible, jack-up and drillship applications. The unique design ensures easy stabbing with visual and easy dimensional verification of makeup, allowing complete confidence in correct assembly. No tooling is required, and the connection is fully reversible with options ranging from 20″ through to 42″.

  • Merlin™ Connector

Oil States’ Merlin™ connection, in service since the mid 1980s, has been field proven in a variety of applications including: casing, conductor, TLP tethers, drilling and completion riser, caissons and FPSO turrets. It features non-rotational makeup with dual metal-to-metal seals and is safely and rapidly assembled using customized makeup tooling. Merlin™ connectors are manufactured and inspected to extremely tight tolerances, which allows us to carefully control the level of pre-load in an assembled connector. All radial and axial pre-load is generated solely by the geometry of the connector. It is not subject to any of the uncertainty found in rotational connectors due to torque and friction effects. The high, controllable level of pre-load, together with the slim-line profile of the connector, ensures exceptional fatigue performance in the harshest of environments.
